Remembrance in Year 5

Year 5 lead Remembrance assembly + Marvellous Monday celebration

Hello all,

During Friday's assembly, Cedar class led the 1 minute silence for Remembrance day.

I'm very proud of how well they shared their knowledge of WWI facts with the rest of the school, as they not only spoke confidently, but chose for themselves facts which they felt were interesting and appropriate to share with the younger children.

This week we have not only covered History objectives, but we also created pieces of art (wire and tissue paper sculpture poppies) and discussed British Values such and mutual respect when learning about soldiers from the British Empire who fought during WWI.

For the Marvellous Monday assembly on the 12th November, the whole class will be praised for their achievements with their WWI homework project and assembly. Marvellous Monday will continue as normal after this week, with 2/3 children picked every fortnight with an invite sent home to parents, but I was just so impressed with them all that I wanted to send them all home with a certificate this time!

Thank you again for your help, grown ups, I can tell that many of you have gotten stuck in to this homework project with your children, and it's lovely to see.

Miss Rodriguez
