DIWALI DAY!

What a fantastic day!

Last Friday, Crossdale had an incredible day, learning all about the religion of Hinduism, and in particular the celebration of Diwali!  The day began with a fantastic assembly, where we learnt all about Hinduism and how the festival of Diwali is celebrated.  We then danced a stick dance, which the children were brilliant at, and also discovered that some people belive the stick dance is based on the sounds that would have been heard during the battle at the end of the story Rama and Sita.  We then sculpted and painted clay divas similar to those that Hindus believe would have shown the way home for Rama and Sita.  We were also lucky enough to follow a recipe to make chapati and found out how this is eaten by Hindus.  It was a fantastic day all round and our learning has even continued this week, as our reading lessons have focussed on the story of Rama and Sita.
