Collaboration between Crossdale Drive Primary and Keyworth Primary and Nursery Schools

In Summer 2015, Crossdale Drive and Keyworth Primary Schools decided to collaborate under the leadership of a single Head Teacher (HT), Peter Cresswell, working across both schools.  The Collaboration started in September 2015 with the aim of improving outcomes and opportunities  for children in both schools.  A Joint Executive Committee (JEC) of Governors from both schools was established to oversee and monitor the Collaboration and report back regularly to the individual Governing Bodies.

Below is an Interim Review that looks at what has been achieved during the first full year of working together and tries to give some indication of how things may progress in the second year.  The review has considered a number of different aspects of school life.

Crossdale Governors

School Governing Bodies are responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the headteacher, who is responsible for day-to-day management, they set the school's aims and policies.

Governors have three main roles:

  • to provide strategic direction for the school
  • to monitor performance of the school and to provide challenge to the school leadership team
  • to ensure accountability

They also carry out a number of other important duties, which include:

  • Monitoring the progress and achievement of all pupils across the school
  • Determining how the school's budget is spent
  • The appointing and dismissing of staff
  • Hearing appeals and grievances
  • Forming policy on the school's curriculum and collective worship
  • Setting standards for pupils' behaviour and discipline
  • Making sure school buildings are welcoming and safe
  • Setting and monitoring the school's aims and policies
  • Monitoring the performance of the headteacher

All Governors attend Full Governing Body meetings (minutes of which can be found at the bottom of this page). In addition to this we have the following committees:

  • Strategic Development Group
  • Finance and General Purposes
  • Pupils and Personnel
  • Performance Management group
