Crossdale Blogs

Our blogs.

Following on from our trip 'Out and about in Keyworth' we will be having another Base One D.T. day (on Wednesday 12th July) where we invite parents in for the day to help the children create something fantastic.

This time we will be making playground equipment. We will be looking at different ways to join materials but also making sure that the structure can move in some way too!

A letter will follow shortly, but if you are able to, please save the date and come and join us!

Many Thanks

On Thursday 6th July, as part of this half term’s topic we are heading into the village for the day.

Our plan for the day is to leave school at 9.30am. We will be walking to ‘The Square’ where the children will undertake a shop survey and then we will then be walking to the park. The children will be given time to sketch the playground in preparation for their upcoming DT project and will also have some time to play on the equipment.

For lunch, the children will be supplied with a school pack lunch and this will be enjoyed whilst on the park area (or inside the Methodist church if the weather is not fine, or indeed too hot!)

In the afternoon we will be visiting both the Church of St. Mary Magdalene and Keyworth Methodist Church, hosted by Andy Proffitt who regularly visits us at school for assembles, which complements our work this term in R.E.

We will walk back to school in time for the usual end of day collection at 3.30pm.

If you can accompany us on the day or have any questions, please see your child’s class teacher.

Many thanks for your support.

Year One went wild!

Hi all,

We have had such a fab day today for the ‘Wear it Wild’ day and hopefully raised lots of money too!  Thank you for going to so much trouble with the children’s costumes, face painting and hairstyles.  The children all looked amazing and we’ve had a gggrrrreat day!  Picture attached.

Also, I wanted to let you know that Mrs Ingle carried out the phonics screening this week.  She was really pleased and could tell the children had been practising.  Thank you for all your support with the phonics.  The children have been working extremely hard and the extra homework has really supported them too.  Thank you!

Have a lovely weekend - enjoy the sunshine!

Phonics competition

I am very pleased to announce that Ellie was chosen as the winner of the half term phonics competition.

Well done, Ellie!

Thank you to everyone who returned their super alien work and proudly told me how many alien words they had read over the half term.  I have returned the children's work for them to keep practising over the weekend.

Thank you for your support.  Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Payne

Superheroes are coming to Year One

Hello everyone,

I hope you have been enjoying the half term holiday and the wonderful weather. Next week we will be starting a new, exciting English theme Superheroes.  We would love the children to bring in any superhero books and comics to read and share with the class.

Thank you!

Miss Nicholls
